PluxNet Fibre proudly concluded Youth Month with a vibrant and impactful Youth Development Expo held at the Hector Pieterson Memorial in Soweto on 28 June 2025. The event brought together aspiring young leaders, entrepreneurs, and learners from across Gauteng for a day dedicated to inspiration, innovation, and opportunity.
Empowering the Next Generation of Digital Trailblazers
As part of PluxNet’s ongoing commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering South African communities, the Youth Development Expo served as a platform for young people to engage directly with industry experts, business leaders, and mentors across various sectors—particularly in technology, telecommunications, and entrepreneurship.
Attendees had access to career guidance sessions, interactive panel discussions, and digital skills training, all designed to equip them with tools to thrive in today’s fast-changing digital economy. PluxNet’s team also shared insights into fibre technology, smart connectivity solutions, and careers in tech—highlighting the importance of digital literacy in driving youth empowerment.
Celebrating Heritage While Building the Future
The choice of venue—the Hector Pieterson Memorial—was deeply symbolic. It served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by young people during the 1976 Soweto Uprising and the continuing importance of youth voices in shaping South Africa’s future.
Community, Collaboration, and Connectivity
In partnership with local organisations and educational institutions such as UNISA and NSFAS, the expo featured exhibitions by SMMEs, non-profits, and job readiness programmes. Young attendees had the opportunity to explore careers in coding, media production, business incubation, and STEM education, with many expressing excitement about discovering new career paths and valuable mentorship opportunities.
PluxNet also used the opportunity to highlight its expanding Wi-fi fibre footprint across Gauteng, including its efforts to improve internet access in underserved communities, truly living its brand promise- SA’s Community Focused ISP.
